Strategically located at the crossroads of Southeast Asia and major Australian cities, the Northern Territory is a world class destination for trade, investment, tourism and international education.
Through our partnerships with domestic and international airlines the Northern Territory has direct flights to key aviation hubs in Southeast Asia, including Denpasar, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur as well as major cities across Australia.
The Northern Territory Government continues to advocate for greater choice, connectivity and competition for both domestic and international travellers, including:
- businesses wanting to invest or spend their money in the Northern Territory
- international students or migrants considering making the move to the Northern Territory
- tourists keen to explore the best of what the Northern Territory has to offer.
The Rebuilding Aviation Connectivity for the Economy program is designed to strengthen the Northern Territory’s aviation connectivity, choice and competition at Darwin, Alice Springs and Yulara.
Encouraging competition in the aviation landscape will improve consumer choice to travel for business, education, and tourism purposes.
New routes secured since 2023:
- AirAsia: Darwin – Kuala Lumpur
- Jetstar: Darwin – Gold Coast (seasonal)
- Airnorth: Alice Springs – Perth
- Airnorth: Alice Springs – Cairns
- Virgin: Yulara – Melbourne
- Virgin: Yulara – Brisbane
- Virgin: Sydney – Darwin.
