Territory Energy Link
The Territory Energy Link corridor will run for around 670km near Elliot to the proposed Middle Arm Precinct in Darwin. It will be approximately 130m wide and support buried services including gas, water, optical fibre, hydrogen gas and other services in the future.
The Territory Energy Link project is now in Stage 2 of development – the feasibility phase. A pre-feasibility study completed in 2024 identified a preliminary alignment which takes into consideration connections to existing infrastructure, avoids known constraints, and minimises environmental and cultural impacts.
Timeline

As enabling infrastructure, the Territory Energy Link will unlock regional growth in the Northern Territory by supporting industry development. This includes gas development in the Beetaloo Sub-basin.
By reducing barriers to development and improving energy connectivity, Territory Energy Link will position the Northern Territory as an attractive and competitive destination for business. The project will help coordinate gas-related development, fast-tracking benefits not only for Territorians but also for private enterprises looking to invest, expand, and operate in the region.

About the project
Formerly known as the Tennant Creek to Darwin Infrastructure Corridor, the Territory Energy Link is a proposed multi-user, multi-asset infrastructure corridor critical to the Northern Territory’s future.
Territory Energy Link is an initiative of the Northern Territory Government. While the government will not construct infrastructure within the corridor itself, it will secure the tenure and operate and manage the corridor land. This includes ongoing engagement, planning, feasibility, investigations and acquiring land for Territory Energy Link.
The Northern Territory Government plans to develop an appropriate commercial model and public governance model for the ownership and management of Territory Energy Link. It is a priority of the Northern Territory Government to collaborate with industry to ensure proponents have fair and reasonable access to Territory Energy Link.
Over the coming decades, the project is expected to generate thousands of jobs and contribute to energy security for Australia and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
