Eco/Safari Lodge at Fish River Gorge

Fish River Gorge

Located in the remote Top End of Australia, approximately 180 km from Darwin by air and east of Pine Creek, the spectacular 1,274 square km Fish River Gorge is an exclusive tourism site managed by Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory on behalf of the Northern Territory Land Corporation (NTLC).

Investors and tourism operators are invited to establish a premium eco-safari lodge and bespoke tour experiences within a site of significant and pristine natural beauty.

Key features of the opportunity

  • Exclusivity by design: With limited access and no existing tourist infrastructure, the site offers unparalleled privacy and seclusion, well suited to small-scale, high-value exclusive accommodation targeting international and domestic eco-safari travellers.
  • Spectacular setting: Towering cliffs, diverse wildlife and uninterrupted night skies provide opportunities for immersive nature based experiences, complemented with high-quality comforts and bespoke service offerings.
  • Untouched natural beauty: The gorge sits within an expansive, ecologically significant region, rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage. Its scale, setting and remoteness enhances its appeal to discerning travellers seeking authentic and meaningful outback experiences.
  • Eco-centric development potential: The site is well suited to low-impact, sustainable development, such as solar-powered safari tents, cliffside pavilion-style accommodation and fly-in experiences and supporting minimal environmental footprint.
  • Safari-based experiences: There is potential for regulated hunting of feral species, including boar and buffalo, as part of a broader safari offering, contributing to land management outcomes.

Fish River Gorge presents a rare opportunity to develop a high-quality eco-safari experience in one of the Northern Territory’s most distinctive natural landscapes.
